Hook’s Rob Collard is confident ahead of the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car championship, after taking part in the BTCC Media Day at Silverstone earlier this week.
Collard is driving a BMW 320Si which for 2012 is powered by a Neil Brown prepared BMW turbo engine, for WSR with title sponsor Ebay Motors with additional sponsorship from HM Plant.
The 2012 season consists of 30 races over 10 race weekends with the opening race weekend at Brands Hatch on 31 March/01 April 2012.
Over the off season Collard has been busy training to keep his fitness up with both cycling and running. He has signed up for the London Marathon later this year. There has also been a trip to Brecon Beacons in Wales for fitness training with the SAS. This training has been very beneficial for endurance and controlling the heart rate, even when the car is as hot as a sauna!.

As Collard commented “Though there has only been limited testing with the turbo powered BMW I am quietly confident for the season and expect to be regularly qualifying in the top 6 or higher this season”

With the team now running 3 cars, with Tom Onslow-Cole joining the team and Nick Foster staying for a second year, there is high expectations around the paddock that team will be challenging for both the driver and teams championship this season.
There is less than 2 weeks to go before the lights go green for the first race of the season with 24 cars on the grid for the first weekend (which is two more than last year).
