The Ginetta GT Supercup has its first race today at Brands Hatch on the shorter Indy circuit, at the challenging Kent circuit.
The championship comprises of Ginetta G55 and Ginetta G50 sports cars with tubular space frame bodies and rear wheel drive.
In 2011 the championship went down to the last race of the season (the 28th) with Carl Breeze, Tom Sharp and eventual champion Adam Morgan. The win gave Morgan a drive in the 2012 British Touring Car Championship with his first race today.
In Friday’s testing the times at the top were separated by thousandths of a second, with Josh Wakefield (the player.co.uk/Century Motorsport) closely followed by Tom Ingram (JHR) and Tom Sharp (IDL). Sharp had been quickest in free practice 1.
It will only be today that we truly know who is the fastest when all are on brand new slick tyres. Another change is the weather with temperatures on Saturday morning down to 5C after the 18C and bright sunshine of Friday afternoon.
The first race is early this afternoon when one driver will take their first win of the season and championship lead.
