Sharp wins again!

It was another near perfect weekend for Camberley’s Tom Sharp as he extended his championship lead to an impressive 66 points ahead of his closest championship rival Tom Ingram.
Sharp was competing in the Ginetta GT Supercup sports car championship, which supports the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, driving a Ginetta G55. All the Ginetta racing cars are built in the UK in Yorkshire.
After positioning his IDL UK /  Ginetta G55 on pole position for the opening race at Donington Park on Saturday, Sharp quickly made his escape in race 1 to lead a comfortable lights to flag victory only to repeat this in the later race on Sunday morning.
The third and final reverse race of the weekend saw Sharp having to start from fifth place (after the reverse grid draw). After a remarkable start Sharp shot into second place by the end of lap one where he shadowed the car of Tom Ingram until the end of the race.
Sharp in the lead
“Two wins and a second place in the tricky reverse grid race was better than we could have hoped for” explained Sharp.  “Ingram was quick in the last race but sometimes you have to know when to settle for a decent points haul and after getting the extra point for fastest lap the difference between first and second is not so great”.
The next three rounds of the Ginetta GT Supercup will be held at Thruxton, Andover on the 27/28 April 2012 where Sharp will look to extend his championship lead at his home circuit.
